How to Help?

Sometimes thinking about things that have helped in the past with our wellbeing can be useful. However, we need to know the difference between long term gains and short term downfalls.

Short term downfalls are the things that might make us feel better temporarily but are not great for us for example comfort eating/overeating, drugs, over-spending or alcohol. These things can make us think we have solved a problem and may cover our feelings but are more likely to cause more issues long term.

Here are Ten Top Tips to improve wellbeing:

  1. Notice what impacts your wellbeing.
  2. Make a note of the symptoms you have.
  3. Talk to someone about how you are feeling.
  4. Try to work on solving the things that impact on you if you can. (See lesson 2)
  5. Keep active and in a routine.
  6. Eat well and healthily.
  7. Get some rest and sleep.
  8. Try relaxation techniques.
  9. Avoid short term fixes that impact on long term wellbeing.
  10. Complete the next 5 lessons.
