How can you identify triggers?

“You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.”
Marcus Aurelius
“The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”
Nelson Mandela

Sometimes we aren’t consciously aware that we have been triggered, but our brain is, as there is an automatic process going on in the limbic system.

Therefore we might notice physical symptoms which we can identify and address.

Skill Stop - The Fizz

Taken from a course called the deciders:
The fizz helps us to think about our physical symptoms of being affected by a trigger, by thinking about a fizzy bottle of drink. The more you shake it the more aggravated it becomes. Watch the video below and lets write down what symptoms you notice.

Main Point

Understanding what can affect our mental health is important as we can identify triggers to having poor mental health. If we are aware of the triggers that make our mental health worse, we can plan to avoid them or manage our health around them / or them around our health. We can also address our physical symptoms and avoid unhelpful behaviours that happen after the trigger.
