Hi I’m Emily, Recovery College Coordinator (Lived Experience). Although originally from Kent I made Cumbria my home 21 years ago and it is definitely the place I call home now. I have struggled with my mental health since I was a teenager but with bit of grit and determination it hasn’t stopped me fulfilling my dreams although it has been a bit of an obstacle at times. I qualified as a teacher in 2000, which was what I’d always wanted to do and is what brought me to West Cumbria. Since leaving the classroom quite a few years ago now I have never lost the passion in sharing knowledge and learning. I am very excited about being part of The Recovery College and hoping that it will make a huge difference to the mental health and well being of all in North Cumbria. When I’m not at work I can usually be found doing something with my dogs, Harry and puppy Hope. I compete in agility and enjoy man trailing. I also enjoy being “crafty” and painting and drawing and am always willing to try something new.
As a Recovery College Coordinator my role is to deliver a variety of different provisions across multiple different areas. I also manage a range of different tasks behind the scenes such as creating timetables, attending events and much more!
